Bryon, I can't speak for everyone, but understanding the time constraints of adding a separate group, you won't hear me complain as long as we get separate starts. Sure a separate group would be great and I'd vote for it if possible :) but I completely understand the challenges involved in splitting our group. See you in a couple of days. Denny |

| BTW, as an aside, enjoy the race, cause it looks like the track is having problems. According to an article in the KC Star today, the track owners have decided to give up its NASCAR dates (the article mentioned a power outage and "spotty" turnout this year) and the owners are looking to sell the track (in this economy!?!) |

Thanks for making this happen Bryon and everyone else who got this rolling.
As soon as I finish my fuel cell swap I'll be there. Thanks for bailing me out again, Midwest Spec Racer!
Gateway has been on the ropes for a while, the track owners appear not to have much capital behind them. Hopefully somebody with some cash will buy the place and do what it takes to make money there (somewhere around $15 million in grandstands and infield improvements was the last number I heard to get a Cup race back in STL). |

It's a measure of how far NASCAR has come from it's grungy good ol' boy beginnings whan a track made specifically for them a dozen years ago needs 15 million in improvements before they'll return. It leads me to think that like Tony George found out, Austin Texas will get the, "Make it wonderful or we ain't coming back" line from Bernie at the 10 year mark. I wouldn't want to be a stockholder at that time.

I hope everybody had a good time today. Denny and Rich had one heck of a battle at the front of todays Regional race and there was good racing to be found throughout the field. I can't wait to see what tomorrows National race has in store for us. |

| That was by far the most fun I've ever had finishing second. I need some more butt time in this car, I'm all A's and E's out there. Great field, lots of fun, hope I can come down to TWS sometime and mix up the running order to return the favor. |

Thank you to everybody who came out. I am really glad that everybody who was here had such a good time. I hope things work out and we are racing at Gateway next year and beyond because this is a good group of people and it is alot of fun to work here and watch you all race here. |

Sorry, we usually reserve the "out-of-towners give Texans an ass-kicking" privilege to the boys from K.C. , but with their permission, our victory lane is open. |

Good stuff. I had 3 great races with Rich. Watch out for him, he's very fast and has a great car. I predict angst from front runners everywhere when he shows up at your local tracks :). I had an absolute blast this weekend, which culminated with the wonderful move of SRF's to our own group, group 7, and the changing of the schedule to allow us to run before lunch on Sunday! So in short, I raced in 3 races in St Louis, including the national on Sunday, and was home in Dallas by 11PM. Amazing. Thanks to Brian and all the workers for a very enjoyable weekend, and to Rich for some very close yet clean racing. As I said, an absolute blast, and some great video.

| It was really nice to meet each and every one of you. Once again, I am just really happy that everybody had a good time. Watch for details when next years schedule gets released, but I think you can plan on us doing this again next year at this race. If you have any ideas that you think would help, please let me know. |

Rich, seriously... between the two of us, it looked like we were some hybrid of a road course car and a modified dirt tracker. There were times that we looked like synchronized swimmers going through 6, just skating the cars through there together. And not just stepped out and crossed up the whole way, but 3 or more huge adjustments almost in sync. Not the fastest, but mucho fun. One of the slickest tracks I can ever remember (though tires likely didn't help matters). If I ever get around to it, I'll try to post some at some point. Denny |

A great thanks for all who responded to the plea for more entries at Gateway. Great job denny for a hard fought sweep. Thanks to Rich for keeping us on the edge of our seats during all 3 races.
Even though we did not get the 15 cars we were looking for I still gave a pair of rub rails to every driver as an appreciation of them supporting the event. I will do it again next year if we get this kind of turnout. |

Denny -
To answer your question about "is gateway hard on tires" it definitely is when you slide the heck out of car. Both my rears have no inside groove left, after 6 total sessions (Sprints race, and this weekend's 5 sessions). I'm thinking I should have put some new ones on for the race just to keep from killing a nearly new set!
Hope you can get video up! |
