Has anyone found an available CAN template in an AIM data system that works well with the Gen3 ECU CAN data stream?

To the best of my knowledge, Bosh Motorsports 4.3 CAN protocol is the preferred flavor.

If you still haven't figured it out, send me your email and I can send you a file to load into your aim to get you going.

New versions of AiM's Race Studio2 (used for MXL, and Evo4) , and Race Studio3 (used for MXL2 and MXG), now have a new "SCCA Enterprises" ECU manufacturer listed, where you can select "SRF Gen3" (or "Formula Enterprises" if you have one of those..) as the ECU type.

I just tested this today on a Gen3 with both MXL and MXL2. This will just provide the channels the ECU actually sends.

Thanks Dave, that clears things up a little. Now all I have to do is figure out the math channels and I can have some real fun.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. FYI, the aimsports.com site has a problem with the Studio 3 software download (corrupted), so I went to the aim-sportline.com site instead. Also noted that installing Studio 3 will install Studio 2 as well.

One question on the settings. I don't see a water temperature listed; is that measurement captured from the ECU?

Bob- I haven't started the car up yet but I believe it is ECU - channel 7- SRF_ECT. They seem to update every other day, the current version is 3.03.14

Bill is correct, water temperature is the channel marked "ECT", which is an acronym for Engine Coolant Temperature. It took me a while to figure that one out (headslap).

Sorry I didn't get back here quickly enough. SRF_ECT is Engine Coolant Temperature as has been pointed out previously. And the best place to get AiM software downloads is directly from the AiM factory site aim-sportline.com. Here is the download area for quick reference:

Thanks for the replies; guess ECT makes sense once you know the acronym! Will hopefully see how it works tomorrow when we finally get to start the car and Sunday at the Thunderhill open test day.
