Mike,

So as not to hijack the tail section post, what about the weight issue? If there is not a decision, what way are we leaning (add weight plate to bring it closer to Gen2 or leave the weight where it is at)? The relevance of the question for me is whether or not to buy new front and rear body sections as mine are pretty heavy.

Thanks,

DaveP

Dave that is why I posted the rear section question,, I need a new tail and will wailt till my Gen3,, It is necessary to know sooner than later what the tail will be for the Gen3 and when it will be available if different.

There was some info on a tail configuration somewhere but I can't find it. Either way, I don't think the mold is changing. I suspect you have never purchased a new tail before... They take some "customizing" to fit your car and the wheel openings need to be cut out.

Jim/Bob,

Thanks. It does state in Erik's memo (see link above) that the weight is set at 1550#. The question now is what will be the final, total weight minimum with the driver in place.

I believe the 1550 minimum for the GEN3 is intended to be with the driver in place just like the current 1670 limit for 1.9 litre cars.

Peter,

It would seem like it should be 1550#, looking at Erik's email, but that seems like it went over to easily. :D

I have been surprised by the lack of reaction as well. My guess is that relatively few people read all the way through the eighth paragraph. :)

It will be interesting to see what actual cars come in at and what updates they have done. Last weekend Jean Luc came in at 1582 with 2 gallons of fuel left in the tank and no weight plates on the car. He usually had a little weight added to his car as a gen 2. His car is a good bench mark as it is one of the newest cars on track, has all the updates, and he is around the size of the average SR driver. That being said, I think we will find 1550 to be a difficult target for most of us.
