I'm sure there's a treasure trove of info in there, but among all that, minimum weight is 1,560 lbs. with cool suit tanks removed.

For anyone interested I weighed in at 1564 last weekend with around 2 gal still in the tank, frame 784, 225lb driver (excluding gear) and new spoke wheels with rear body with 4 or 5 pound extra fiberglass. It looks like a 225lb driver in this configuration should to meet 1560lb limit. With the new rockers you should be able to shave off some more weight.

Somebody did their sums correctly here because 225 is the start point of non-ballast weight on a GEN2.

There appears to be a conflict between the GCR rules published and the Gen 3 assembly manual. :o

GCR: "gg. SRF3 Oil Cooler, P/N G480503 may be used as mounted per the GEN3 Assembly Manual. No fan permitted."

GEN 3 Assembly Manual: "The 1.6 L will use a larger oil cooler and a new oil cooler fan assembly."

The assembly manual installs an oil cooler fan...which per the GCR section gg is not permitted. :?

Bob - I believe that what you are referring to is in the Gen2 section of the rules. New oil cooler is optional with no fan for Gen2. The Gen3 section still references the fan. All rules apply to Gen3 the same as Gen2, unless modified by the Gen3 section.

Bill...unfortunately there is not anything in the Gen 3 exceptions section that says anything about oil cooler fans. Since the opening statement of the Gen 3 section says that "Cars must be converted per “SCCA Enterprises Conversion Manual” and it shall be used a reference standard for converted cars. SRF3 cars must comply with all current SRF rules and regulations in 9.1.8.C.1. except as follows." The assembly manual says to install a fan but the GCR says that a fan assembly is prohibited.

It is clear that the GCR needs to be corrected to either specifically state that fan assemblies on SRF2 is prohibited or call out the fan assembly in the exception section for the SRF3.

Bob - I see your point. I was thinking that ""Cars must be converted per “SCCA Enterprises Conversion Manual” was enough, but I also agree that the fan and cooler was not mentioned in the exception requirement.
"gg. SRF3 Oil Cooler, P/N G480503 may be used as mounted per the GEN3 Assembly Manual. No fan permitted" does seem to cover it for SRF2 though.

I believe the "Exceptions" noted reflect only those items not specifically outlined in the Assembly manual (e.g. the bodywork) as there are many more items that differ between SRF and Gen3 than covered in this section (e.g. location of the fire bottle). I think the rule, as described, is sufficiently clear.
