Trailers and Low Bridges...

Getting ready to upgrade my truck GPS. Thought about getting an RV or Semi Truck version, one that allows you to input truck/trailer dimensions and will give a safe route. I'm leaning towards a RV version. It looks like there are WAY too many options I would never use on the Semi Truck models.
I'm looking at Garmin as they have been SCCA partners in the past.

The newest RV models are:
RV 660LMT
RV 770 LMT-S

The newest Semi Truck models are:
dēzl™ 570LMT
dēzl™ 770LMTHD

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

I have a Rand McNally RVND 7725 that I purchased from Camping World. I have found it to be a really good unit that routes my RV and trailer away from potential problems or at least warns you of them. If you are a Good Sam member you can use their trip planner application to plan out your trip on you computer and then download it to the GPS unit.

Another alternative is the SmartTruckRoute app. Traveling East with the RV and trailer a couple of years ago, we got stuck outside the NYC area circling through Sleepy Hollow for a time trying to get onto a route that would not end up chopping off the top of the RV on our way to Lime Rock (standard GPS kept trying to send us onto NY Thruways that were cars only due to low bridges. We barely made it off an exit where the approaching bridge was 10.5' - not good for a 12' RV!) Best money I ever spent on an app. We started using it too late to avoid the $76 toll on the GWB, though!

I got a Garmin for my RV and Trailer setup.
Beware that there are ALOT of roads that come up on the screen "RV/Truck Access not available". Maybe in a few years more roads will be tagged correctly...
