Agree 10000000%. SRF is approaching 50 already, that is a crowded track, throw in speed disparity of Gen3s, what a mess.

In SRF3 I would rather have a 15 minute session with 45 cars than a 30 minute session with 72. With clear track buckle down and put in a fast lap, it is the Runoffs after all. Hell I am down for the Go Kart days, 5-6 guys spread out on the track and you get 1 lap. I know that will never happen though :D

Totally agree mike! 15 second release intervals, 1 hot lap and done! no drafting partners no time for warm up and then save the last three qualifying sessions for heat races.

It's Indy, we get four-lap qualifying runs per car, right? That should only take a month.

Updating my entry to add a second test day was weird, but worked fine. Personally I would have made the test days separate events from the race registration, but I guess this made something work better for them.

My guess is that it makes it easier to verify that someone signed up for a test day is actually registered/eligible to race.

Note that while updating your entry to add test dates is still offline, it appears that there is some re-alignment of test day run groups in the works.

Saturday was:

Group 1: AS, GT1, GT2, GT3, STU, T1, T2 (34)
Group 2: EP, FP, GTL, HP, STL (41)
Group 3: F500, FF, FV, SRF3 (72)
Group 4: FA, FB, FC, FE, FM, P1, P2 (47)
Group 5: T3, T4, SRF (36)
Group 6: SM, B‐Spec (55)

And now looks a lot more balanced:

Spec Miata (50)
Spec Racer Ford 3 (52)
FA/FB/FC/FE/FM/P1/P2 (47)
F5/FF/FV/SRF (42)
FP/HP/GTL/STL/T4/B-Spec (50)
AS/GT1/GT2/GT3/STU/T1/T2/T3/EP (44)

No announcement yet, so this may be temporary or there may be more to come. I would not be surprised to see similar shifts for Friday where there is currently a group with 13 and a group with 57.

Stay tuned.

The realignment of run groups for the Saturday test day appears to be official. A revised test day schedule has been posted on the SCCA web-site:

Brian from MotorsportReg here - the test day oversubscribe and group adjustment for Saturday is our fault. We generally don't get involved in event setup but for large events like the Runoffs we help and we screwed up on the config for adding more test days on Wednesday. That allowed folks to oversubscribe some groups and SRF3 in particular was impacted by that due to the entry count. That falls on me and my team and I apologize to everyone for the interruption. SCCA was great about adjusting groups to make it work but there are a couple of people who lost out and for that I apologize.

Registration should be the least stressful part of the Runoffs and I hope it will quickly become a distant memory. You guys are in for one incredible week and it's going to be a great race. Good luck to all of you!

I find myself looking at the overall runoffs registrations often to see if the numbers are increasing and in what groups are the changes. 3 over 72 right now with 3 more extremely close (some of those are combined classes). Will be interesting to see if the upward trajectory continues, (I know I am still contemplating entering) what the final numbers will be. Might be looking at 15 minutes sessions for all. If I don't end up entering, you can bet I will be watching the Thursday night last chance races.
