I'd like to attend a Vintage (VSCDA) event in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know what group we run with (SRF3)? A search didn't turn up anything.

And from what I've been told the car and I are both old enough for vintage. ;)

Thanks!

I'm not so certain that SRF2 and 3 are vintage eligible. You may want to check on that. I believe that GEN1, Sports Renault, is eligible.

I've seen a bunch of GEN II SRFs at the SVRA races we partner with in Trans-Am, so, I'm pretty sure you can run a Renault or at least a a GEN II (1.9 L single overhead cam) SRF in some type of vintage.

SVRA does allow the GEN2 but so far has explicitly ruled out the GEN3. The SVRA also requires a spec Hoosier tire, but it is different than the SCCA spec. The SVRA tire has tread and is narrower and stickier than the current SCCA spec tire. When I ran with SVRA in 2014, the SRF was classed in group 3M.

Interesting that SVRA is allowing GEN2. I wonder why they'd allow a different, albeit stickier, tire? If they'd just let in the current tire, they might pop their Spec Racer car counts.

Just in case someone else is interested in running "Peter" :) They approved me for Group 5 Class S2. Would really be nice to have a few more of us there to run with.

Mostly looking at some track time at BHF before our event. I just finished running a combined weekend with the VSCDA in MN a couple of weeks ago and they are a great bunch of people with some interesting cars.

So does this mean Gen 3 was allowed into the race group Class S2 in VSCDA?

I may be mistaken but the 1.6 liter is listed on their website .group 5 I believe

You are correct. I see it on the May 2017 revised class list. They have now created a specific group for the SCCA spec racer which includes all three versions. It was a lot of fun running the 1.9 with group 3 and 4. I'm not sure I would enjoy running with group 5.
