After a great 2017 season (team podiums, Majors wins, poles, and track records at numerous tracks from Florida to New York), SSR is in the throes of upgrading cars, adding steeds to the stable, and preparing for a stellar start to 2018.

I brag on Tony and the SSR team all the time but I'm going to take a moment to brag on one of SSR's pilots, Russ (Charles on the entry list) Turner.
If you haven't met him yet at a track near you, you're in for a real treat when you do. If you have some Jack Daniels with you, multiply that treat by 3.
Russ had essentially zero experience in road-racing in November of 2016. He saw some online videos, contacted Tony, and said "that looks fun, I'm in". He rented a Gen3 from SSR and then purchased his own Gen2 in early 2017.
After his first couple of weekends (and first couple of fiberglass body parts 8-) ) he was already showing great improvement. Through turning lots of laps in a top notch SSR car, Russ went from an inexperienced road-racer whom no one in SRF-land had heard of to a guy who finished on the Gen2 podium and in the top5 of Gen3 at Homestead only 3 months after getting his license. Two months later he was drafted by on the last lap of the CoTA Gen2 race by Scott Rettich (a few skins on the wall :D ) to just miss taking the checkered at one of the biggest races of the year. After several more excellent finishes (including several podiums), he proceeded to qualify in the top 5 of SRF and the top 10 in SRF3 at Indy, no mean feat indeed.
Russ has been a joy to work with and while he's super laid back and great to hang out with, he's a fierce competitor. Check out the shots of his beautiful new SRF3, courtesy of Tony and the Southeast Spec Racer guys. It's as pretty a car as I've seen. Those brand new kits sure look sharp don't they? Yes they do... and this isn't even one of them! This is Russ' Gen2 converted over in spectacular fashion.

Ok enough of that. Russ' head is big enough as it is, I don't want to see him breaking helmets.

I'd like to personally thank Tony and the SSR team for being a great group to run and work with all year. Todd and his wife Kim are great, great folks and a joy to be around... you guys enhance every race weekend with your humor and spirit.

Starting at Homestead in January, be on the lookout for the Southeast Spec Racer steeds. Between Todd and Russ who will be regulars, I fully expect to see SSR all over podiums in the southeast in 2018. SEDIV is arguably the deepest divisional talent pool in the country and those guys will be a factor week in and week out (apologies to all the other divisions... just my .02 :) ).

If you're looking for a car that you know can win and you want to run at a spectacular track like Road Atlanta, Sebring, Daytona, or VIR (man I'm jealous of you SE guys!), look no further than http://www.southeastspecracer.com.
The legacy continues in 2018!

Thanks for the compliments Denny. Reflecting back on my first year of racing I have some observations and thanks that I would like to share.
First the car. I wanted to get into road racing and started looking at some of the different classes. After seeing some videos and looking at the entry lists I quickly settled on the spec racer. Spec Miata was a consideration until I saw an SRF in person. It’s a simple, purpose built race car that looks cool. As everyone on here knows I made the right choice. I wanted an affordable car with a good car count. And I'm a fan of stiff competition. Denny's 40+ lead change video from VIR single handily got me into this racing.
Second the Community. You guys are great. I love the atmosphere and the competition. Everyone has been super friendly and fun to race against. It’s amazing that no matter how fast you go there are a group of guys right there with you. You win a race in SRF and you've done something. I look forward to many more years in the community.
I owe my early success to all the guys at Southeast Spec Racer. Denny is a great coach and between the data analysis and the video reviews I made great strides quickly. Todd is great teammate that always helps me get up to speed at new tracks. I hope someday I am fast enough to swap positions with Denny and Todd. If you want to beat the best you have to race with the best. Tony's cars have been flawless and fast. I never doubt the car I am in is capable of winning every race. I can't thank him enough for the hard work he has done this year and look forward to another successful year with the team. Last year was something special. I got to race at VIR, Road Atlanta, Daytona, Nola, Sebring, Homestead, Cota, Road America and NJMP. I hope to add some new tracks this year and meet some new people.

Goodluck to everyone in 2018.

Russ
Guess I'll have to do this the old fashion way.........

Well I would like to say thanks Russ for running with us. You are a top notch person and have a great family too. Your brother Jamie is a really good guy along with your dad, wife and 3 kids. Denny of course is a really big help to the team. like Russ said that is how he came to find us. Todd what can I say you all know him and Kim. They have been the rock core of Southeast Spec Racer. Then Tom and Justin Weir. they have been with team back before Southeast Spec Racer began. Tom made it all happen. Thanks to all. Look forward to 2018. I hope we an get a few more fast guys to come over this year too. Tony
