IndyCar did something interesting for qualifying in Detroit today...
Split the field into two random groups so everyone gets a little more clear track.
Pole is determined by the fastest time from all runs.
Everyone in the pole sitter’s group lines up in the odd positions.
Everyone in the other group lines up in the even positions.
Might be nice to try for SM and us since we often have the largest run groups by far.

That's already an approve alternate qualifying method for over subscribed classes in changing conditions.
