How big is too big??

Does anyone run a 12" or larger wheel?

I'm looking at replacing my current steering wheel and looking at these two:
http://www.sparcousa.com/product/p-310
http://www.sparcousa.com/product/p-300

They are 12.2" and 11.8"

Currently running a MOMO Mod.11 which is a 11.2" wheel and seems like I have room to spare.

Currently running a NRG quick disconnect. Would like to use the first two as they should bolt right to the QD as they use the standard 6x70 pattern.

My current wheel as well as anything else smaller than 12" seems to use just a blank and I'm having problems finding an adapter to go from 6x70 to a three hole. Found a couple with holes but need something that can be screwed into otherwise there's no way to put it all together. Think threaded spacer.

So how big is just too big? ;)

I would think to big would be anything that puts your hands, elbows in a place of discomfort or to hit anything. So if you have room to turn freely all good. I would also think it will make a slight ratio change due to size. Like changing the sprocket on your bike.

Going to check for clearance in a few. Wish I had an actual 12" wheel to check with. The jump from 11 to 12 should be less than the width of the wheel.

Thanks for the offer but not really looking for an open top wheel right now.

What's everyone using? Found one other thread about this but only had 10 reply's which really weren't much help.

My wheel is 320mm and fits fine, you might have to raise steering column as your bottom hand could start hitting your legs in turns, but I suppose it depends how you sit and whatnot.

I've been toying with the idea of an integrated data/steering wheel and the new GT steering wheel from AIM looks interesting, but 320 (12.54") is the smallest they have (I think the formula wheel might be on the small side.) Looks like it's slightly flattened at the bottom (308). If anyone has pictures of a 320 wheel in an SRF I'd be interested in seeing how it fits.

Just tried a OMP SuperQuadro 330mm (12.9") wheel and it would work but just barely. Comes close to hitting my legs. I'm returning it and have just ordered an OMP Trecento which is 300mm (11.8").

I think it'll be just about perfect. Will report back just in case someone else can use this info.

A bigger wheel takes less effort to turn but (I think) I can react quicker with the smaller wheel so I feel more confident with the smaller one. Reflexes slow with age?
