As John Hagerman once said "It's always the alternator". This advice has proven to be sound many times.

It on our list!!

If only the circumstance were a bit more clear, I would be in total agreement. After the JERC at NJMP, I am sending the oil for analysis and see what shows up.....assuming the engine does not turn into a grenade after the first lap.
(Luckily all parties, from SCCA Enterprise to the CSR have assured me that would be impossible!)

Sound like an electrical issue".

I second this. Check and make sure you don't have the B+ wire on the alternator worn though and grounding against anything (usually the edge of the heat shield).

Thanks Mumm Bros and Dave! I will act on that advice.

What I really need is a GEN3 conversion with everything new and shiny!! ;-)

That's how I fixed my Gen 2 electrical problem.

My alternator developed an internal - intermittent short circuit that would momentarily short-out the entire +12v on the SRF. I discovered this when I dropped out of warp on the back straight at the glen and then almost got immediately hit from behind by a Miata :O

The CSR said the wire was OK, but I like your idea of the alternator. It wouldn't hurt to pop a new one in.

The other forum member has inspired me to begin a "GEN3 Fund". I started filling the coffee can on my desk with spare change and singles! :D
