Ballast Plate Help

Does anyone have drawings/dimensions (approx weight would be nice too!) for making side pod ballast plates? I'm trying to get some made locally and my car is 4.5 hours away at the track. Can't find the info anywhere. I have the TSB for the center "Auxillary" plates - but not info for the side plates.

Thanks!

Edit - the length and spacing for the holes and notch for the side plates is the main thing I need I think.

The new "Auxiliary" plate option available to locate a ballast plate/mount below the driver may be a more desirable direction to go if you need a substantial amount of ballast (or want weight more at the center rather than sides of the car). At the maximum dimension of 28.650x7x1/2" that works out to roughly 28 lbs (assuming .29 lbs of steel per cubic inch). I assume if more weight is needed it would need to be in the side pods.

I don't have a plate in front of me, so I can offer the exact dimension or the hole and cutout dimension (assume you'd want those drilled/cut as well.) The maximum dimension of the side plates are listed in the GCR (10x20x1/2") which would roughly 29 lbs. Most of the stock plates are made to 5 lbs at 1/4" thickness (10 lbs at 1/2").

Looks like one (slotted) hole is at the rear edge and open to that edge. The other hole is centered 12" from that same edge.

This one is 5" wide and 1/2 inch thick. Looks like the holes are about 1/2" dia.

Thanks for the help guys! Seeing the offset for the hole from inside to outside - I guess clearance e to the inside is limited and I need that measurement too?

You have a little wiggle room to make it narrower, but not wider. I don't have exact measures, but from the picture it looks like the hole centers are ~2" from the left side. Hopefully someone can confirm...

There is a ballast plate drawing on the AccelRaceTek.com website under the "Tech" "Ballast Drawing" menu. The link is: http://www.accelracetek.com/ballast-drawing/

We like using 5" wide plates and the weights are 5 lb for .250", 7.5 for a .375, and 10 lb for a .50" thick plate. If you use a 6" wide plate the weights will be 6 lb for .250", 9 for a .375, and 12 lb for a .50" thick plate.
