Tried searching for the dry weight of a 1st Gen with the Renault still in it and I was unsuccessful. Trying to determine if the trailer I am looking to purchase will suffice. Would someone be so kind to advise? I appreciate it.

Thanks Jim. Looks like I need to locate an "Assembly Manual".

I don't know how much help it is, once the car is assembled. Let alone - where you'd find one.

If you don't have a "1983-1987 AMC/Renault Alliance & Encore Repair Manual" from Haynes - now that is useful (engine, starter, transmission, shaft/axle and hubs and brakes. Loads of these on eBay, from 8 to 20 bucks.

On the Assembly Manual, I could scan the few relevant pages, like Specs, Tips, etc. and email to you. There are some details in the Assembly manual that might be useful, bolt sizes for instance, but unless you are missing some, should be able to just replicate from existing. I was putting together a "Torque Sheet" for the Renault stuff. Not finished yet. The Mumm Brothers have a good deal of info too.

I did find a Renault F3N/R engine and transmission pdf on-line, I'll have to look for that and can get you the link.

I imagine you are you using a 1.7L engine. Right?

Cheers - Jim

Good luck on

I purchased from a friend who purchased it new in 1985 or 1986 and raced it for two years. He then placed it in dry storage until a couple months ago when he brought home to his shop. That is when I saw it and purchased it from him. I’m still trying to figure out how to post pics off my phone as it is saying the pics are too large.

The Haynes manual arrived yesterday off of eBay. I would appreciate any specs or relevant info you have. Send me a PM and I will get you my contact info. Yes it still has the Renault motor and a second Renault motor that he believes was a spare and was not used. We are refurbishing for my wife, the boss, to run in VSCDA.

Cool - Glad to see you've still got the "traditional" rear section - no wheel arch cutout.
Makes it a PITA to check pressures after a session, so I added a Bluetooth TPMS.
Much easier now.

You've got a PM.
