Just finished another conversion, but I'm keeping this one!

Since the alternator belt also is used for the water pump, I am looking for a VERY BRIGHT LED warning light. I want the light to light up when the alternator quits charging so I know the belt has come off. When I get to flailing and a whaling in the cockpit, I need a bright light. That dinky little thing now is too small for me.

I have searched a lot of places ( Jegs, Summit, Racer Parts Wholesale etc. and even eBay  ) but I can't find an alternator warning light that is big and/or has LED's.

Anyone know where I can get one?

Thanks

Mick: Pegasus has a red warning light by Rebco -- incandescent, big and bright. It's about 1/2-inch in diameter. That's what I'm using. Plenty bright. I also set a low voltage alarm on my data.

Go to superbrightleds.com They have several colors, very visible in bright sunlight and at a fraction of the cost others would charge. Very cool stuff in general!

Mick, Tony SEI. I have put these in since day one. Longacre 41802. All different colors. I just cut wires to small light and put on spade connectors on wire ends. Drill the hole bigger to fit new light and pluged in the wires. Done. Can not be any easier. I also added a water temp sensor that is set to 230 degrees and put a amber light, same as the red for alternator, also for safety. I will show you at PBIR.

Thanks for the help. I now have a bright alternator warning light right next to the tach at the shift RPM point.
I like the temp warning light Tony, I'll get installed also.

How is this for bright??? I don't think I'll be missing this warning....

Tony - I'm interested in your water temp idea. What did you connect the wires from the light to?

Has anyone actually used an LED light in this location? Working on Gen3 conversion and I've installed one but now I'm not sure whether it will work in this circuit, since apparently LEDs only work when wired in the right polarity. Not sure what that would be for this circuit. Anyone tried it?

Why don't we have an automatic engine shut off for no alternator or High engine temp? Can't be that hard to engineer or install?

It would be very easy to do that but, it would be one more thing to go wrong not allowing you to start the car. The light works quite well at getting your attention.
