I drove the Elite Autosport GEN3 in the Double Divisional at Blackhawk this past weekend. My best lap in the cold morning air during Sunday practice was a 1:17.8. I qualified later in the day at a 1:18.3 and my best race lap in the afternoon was a 1:18.5. For comparison, the best lap time for a standard SRF during the weekend was a 1:19.3. The SRF track record, which has stood since 1994, is 1:18.9.
The GEN3 was a blast to drive. Very nimble through the quick esses. The only negative was that I had to short-shift driving past the sound meter at the exit of turn 6 to stay under the 102db limit. Registered 106db going through that section with full revs during Saturday qualifying. The short-shift appeared to increase lap time by 1 or 2 tenths relative to using full revs.
I was the only GEN3 racing in a field of 15+ SRF's both days. Congrats to Jim Ferro who was the SRF winner on Saturday and Rick Bartuska who took the SRF win on Sunday. Looking forward to having some GEN3's to race against next year.

Peter - I couldn't make it last weekend but hope to be at the first Major next year to give you some competition. I plan to be sporting a new paint job to go with the new motor, so don't get to close
