I heard that that a muffler will be required at Mid-Ohio and most other tracks in 2016. Does anyone else know anything about this. I was at M-O in Oct with 15 other Gen 3's and do not remember seeing any mufflers.

This is from the November Fastrack:
SCCA Fastrack News November 2015 Page 16 Kit G1190523 (including Standard Muffler P/N 390523) is required for all events. For tracks with stricter sound requirements Quiet Muffler Kit P.N G1190524 is available as a replacement for that event. I assume that the Standard Muffler is something new. |

I don't have a GEN3 yet, but the CSR at Texas World Speedway last week spent the good part of half a day getting everyone's installed. But there seemed to be some issue where the mounting system wanted to loosen up, so be sure when you get the muffler, tighten it often (like every heat cycle maybe). |
Definitely an issue with clamping (I stripped the threads on the original clamps trying to tighten). Looks like the next gen clamps were upgraded, which helps. One fix I saw used prior to the official muffler was to tap a buttonhead screw between the muffler and the tail pipe sections, then clamp over the screw. Also check the buttonhead screws on the muffler body as they tend to loosen (lost one already).
