Read a story on this from the Denver Post that said the engine in the car was from a Toyota MR-2 rated at 165hp.

The trouble with many of these country club tracks is that they're under the mistaken impression that because they're just out for "a bit of fun" and not intensely racing at, say, an SCCA Club Racing level that it's somehow safer.

Also, 165 HP Toyota engines in Spec Racers is going way, way beyond the chassis design in terms of potential "safe" impact force. GEN3 engines are the absolute limit.
