GrandAm has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow morning (Wednesday Sept 5) at 10:00am (eastern). The announced subject is "Road Racing In North America - See the Future". Rumor has it that the announcement will be that GrandAm has acquired all or part of Don Panoz's holdings (ALMS, IMSA, Sebring, Road Atlanta). Press conference will be carried live on Grandam.com. Should be interesting - and possibly very significant for our sport.

This has the potential to be really good or an absolute disaster. Hope it's the former.

Did I hear Panoz say that's he's selling Sebring and Road Atlanta to the new combined company? Or is he talking about selling to ISC? That wasn't clear.

My understanding is Sebring and Rd Atlanta are part of the package being acquired by Grand-Am.

Given that Grand-Am isn't a venue operator, I'm guessing they then sell those two tracks off to ISC and be done with it. OR maybe ISC sells The Glen to the Grand-Am entity and then they're done with road courses. Just guessing out loud. |
