Tom: I think one of the things you'll find in SRF is that when people make mistakes, they own up to them and walk over after the session and apologize. Pretty high level of respect for others but sometimes in the heat of the battle mistakes happen. And are recognized with integrity.

It's all racing and s*** happens. Just this past Saturday I got into the back of one of the "kids" and spun them going into turn 1. I apologized to the driver and the father because it was the right thing to do. They had no idea how to respond because I assume they were expecting some lame excuse followed by a screaming match. You make a mistake, own up to it. Sadly, where I am racing, owning up is the exception rather than the rule.

"I apologized to the driver and the father "

I sure as hell don't want to have to apologise to some racers mommy or daddy.

It's a strange dynamic when you race against people in the 15-18 year old range. One one hand , if they are out there racing with adults, they should be treated as such. On the other hand, don't think it's really appropriate to have a confrontation or even a meaningful discussion with someone who is really a child without including a parent. I know it's easier to just say" s**** it, treat them the same" until you are actually presented with the situation.

Not that old....and you still race hard.

As for racing incidents. I've had good luck in SRF with one exception where even with video evidence of the other guy's screw up (braking 200 feet early at the front of a line) he still didn't apologize. :x
