Ok West Coasters – lots of talk about “no West Coast Championship caliber race”, as the Eastern part of the US enjoys the “big ones”… well last year (2011), a group of active racers and workers got together and resurrected the West Coast’s Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships. The PCRRC originally ran in Northern California back in the day that there really was only one sanctioning body for Road Racing, but the 21st Century brought about many more choices, and ultimately many different race groups to run with… Enter the “new generation of the PCRRC”. If no Sanctioning Body wants to hold a Championship Race on the West Coast, let’s have our own…. AND, let’s remove the sanctioning body constraints and get everyone to run together for a chance at claiming the bragging rights for Fastest in the West and the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships Champion.

October 27 and 28, 2012

Buttonwillow Raceway Park

Taking lap times from the various West Coast road racing organizations and their applicable classes, common lap times formed some pretty intense Run Groups, and Trophy Groups. Vintage Lotus Super 7’s racing with Spec Miatas, Formula 5000 versus Swift Formula Atlantics, Shelby GT350 versus a Z06 Vette.

Our rules, not SCCAs, not NASAs, not VARAs. Qualification races, No contact tolerated, No impound.

Thanks to support from the following Sponsors, entry fee is low, great Saturday night BBQ Party with music and all. Sponsorship from RJ’s Bar and Grill, Yokohama Tire, Mazdaspeed, Dennis Bear Photography, Cal Club, NTS Inc, and Porterfield Brakes.

I especially liked the last line of this rule...:

C.2 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Any unsportsmanlike conduct, on any scale, is not welcome during the PCRRC. Acts of unsportsmanlike conduct have many forms such as arguing, yelling, intimidation, rough driving, aggressive physical contact, and losing like a baby.

Bob, Dave, Nor Cal Racers-

The PCRRC is actually getting a lot of interest from our local So Cal bunch. Some made the loooooooong $$$$ trip back to the Runoffs, and others did not. It would be cool to start having a West Coast version. Regional points will be awarded bringing obvious interest from the regional crowd and the national guys are looking for a final, fun race of the year.

I have talked to the powers making the schedule and if SRF has enough entries we can have our OWN run group. Yes, no other cars but SRF. Think 15-20, not 35-40, but the more the merrier! I am pretty confident we might get to that number with just our local participation.

The weather should be ideal in the last week of October, so come on down and have some fun. If you have never been to BRP there is a track run test day on Friday and I am more than happy (along with many others) to help people get up to speed around the track.

Any questions, feel free to email me: mike at buttonwillowraceway.com

We are just over 1 week out from the PCRRC. So far only one driver entered from Nor Cal. A few other locals are expected to join the mix so we should have around 15, hopefully closer to 20 depending on any last minute decisions.

$305 entry fee, hard to beat that for a practice, a qualifying, qualifying race, warm up and a feature race. There is a track hosted test day on Friday with 3-4 hours of track time.

If you are thinking about it...do it! If you are not thinking about it, give it some consideration!

See you at the track
