About as precise a description as I have ever heard... :)

That was kinda my point ;) Lots and lots of variables, but treating the motor right (good oil, cooling in good shape, don't mechanically overrev, and most importantly keep your AFR in "the pocket") will get you the most time possible... which can be a year or 7, who knows. :)

12 years of a moderate race sched (+/- 5 races/yr) 2 engines. First one went due to a blown oil line and a driver who wasn't watching his gauges (me). One tranny rebuild (Dave Skinner) was about $1500 all in iirc. Tires as reported above.

My first motor lasted about 10 years before it's first rebuild and it was strong until the very end when it started to soften up. I had it rebuilt again last year (top end only) after 8 more years.
