This was my gun for many years.

claysylvester wrote:Dave - being a GI I certainly remember "this is my rifle this is my gun - this is for fighting this is for fun". How many other grunt veterans of Vietnam are in our group? There is Hal Holliday and myself here in the SW division. Of course that makes us some of the oldest geezers in SRF!!

Actually, I think the SCCA is getting grey enough that Viet Nam vets are "middle aged". My 19 y.o. draft year would have been the last year of the war (if they hadn't stopped the draft).

At least two in NEDIV:

me: US Army 1968-71; US Army Reserve 1971-96
MACV Advisory Team 97 1969-1970: down in the Delta

Chris Current: US Navy (not sure of the years)

Thanks for the Veterans' Day wishes and especially the pension!

More RVN vets than I would have thought. I started in 588th Engineers then to 25th Inf - 1969-70 - based Cu Chi and roamed around Dau Tieng (Michelin rubber plantation HQ) - NW of Saigon some 60 miles. GI Bill paid for my college. Congrats to all of us for being here 40+ years later. Eternal thanks to those who aren't.

I was born in the Fort Hood military hospital... does that count? :)
All joking aside, as many have said much more eloquently than I, your service is immensely appreciated.
