Just installed the new type alternator. Charged OK. Accidently touched the "hot" terminal on the back of the alternator making final adjustments; alternator now does not work. Fuses seem OK. Suggestions? Internal fuses on alternator?

Ok going off you are using old style. No fuse in alt. It does have a voltage regulator that bolts on the back and is most common to fail. First you are checking it on DC volts and it shows? 12 volts or less. Running at battery. Next make sure there is 12 volt power going to alternator big 10mm bolt on alt. This wire goes to switch side of master switch, the one that sparked, next small 8mm bolt is ground and has ground. Next yellow and brown wires. Yellow on top(i'm pretty sure) and brown just below yellow. Make sure they are connected right. Yellow is most important as it sends the charge signal, brown is for dash light only. When alternator is not charging and wires are right and dash light works it will come on if belt comes off or alt. fails.
