The person(s) who designed the nose element of these cars was an evil genius. It's like a bird's nest -- a bunch of sticks loosely jammed together that somehow stays in place.

PS: I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's a 1980s Subaru radiator available for $117.

PPS: It is true that there is no interval for flush/fill the radiator. They just get destroyed and replaced every couple of seasons.
