Having never done this before, anyone already have a writeup on how to replace the inner CV? Also, can it be replaced with Ford part #F1CZ-3B414-F? To remove the CV, I know there are two snap rings, what type of pliers are needed to spread those apart to be able to slide the CV on the axle shaft? Thanks.

You need snap ring pliers that have two little points on the end. When you grab them they open out. Opposite of regular type pliers. The points go into the two holes on snap ring, squeeze snap ring tool and with shaft in a bench vise tap cv with hammer. That is the only one that holds cv to shaft. The other ring on the end of the input splines hold it into the trans. There is a pair of pliers that have small flat type end that open out like snap ring pliers you use on that ring or just use small screw driver to get under it and walk it off. Trying not to bend it to much. Then I squeeze it back with some pliers so that when I put it back on the new cv it is tight. Just a little to close up the gap. Then I just walk it back over the splines and push around it till it get to the slot it sits in. I put the new cv joint into a rag around the splines and snug it into a bench vise, take shaft and hold it into cv joint and open snap ring and push in the shaft. Dont forget to put some grease into the cv joint. Dont fill up boot with grease just cv joint. Now the boot clamps. You need a tool for that too. You may have or know but this has to be right or grease will leak out and shorten the lifespan of joint. I'm not sure on part number but 1993 thru 1995 Ford Escort 5 speed Transaxle. Some where in those years will work. Hope this helps. Tony
