Last weekend I bought 4 new tires for my car. After the race Saturday, I noticed that the Goodyear lettering had sort of melted into a blur on the left rear tire. For Sunday, I swapped tires side to side. After Sundays race, I now had two rear tires with the melted/blurred lettering. I guess since the left rear tire gets hotter than the others, it's enough to melt this lettering?
I don't notice this same phenomenon with everyone's tires. Who else notices this on their tires?

Don't know as I've seen that before. Are you sure you don't have something rubbing on the tire?

I had the same thing happen last year. Tires seemed fine, but the smudged lettering was definitely odd.

Nope ... nothing rubbing. Kurt Breitinger

The Goodyear yellow is definitely not a permanent paint. It seems like it's designed to rub off onto adjacent cars!
Maybe your tires had a particularly weak formulation of that paint. I assume it blurred on the outside of the tire? If it was the inside, left you might have an exhaust leak cooking it. |

Kurt - I've had mine do the same and couldn't find rubbing - I wouldn't worry about it

You would think Goodyear might want the lettering to hold up longer. Also, if you want photos taken of the car, it's best do it before the letters melt. Kurt Breitinger

If it is the inside left tire, make sure you don't have a slighly bent, old style lower A arm.

Nope. It's always on the outside. Kurt Breitinger
