One of my car's front upper control arms has a grease fitting for the UCA bushings. The other does not. Is this a "spec" item, or would I be allowed to add a grease fitting to the one that does not have one?

C.7. Suspension
NO MODIFICATIONS ALLOWED. Adjustments are permitted within the limits of the suspension components. (See specifications - Section J.) No modification to the components is allowed, with the exception that a Zirk fitting may be installed on the upper rocker arms to lubricate the pivots. |

I am halfway through disassembling, cleaning and re-installing my rockers (all with zirks). If you don't have a zirk fitting, I suppose you just cram grease into the sleeve? Messy work. |

Let me be the first on this august forum to advise you to cram it, Greg. |

Since it's the off-season sneaking in already, I will try to help with spelling at least.
No zirk fittings, it's spelled Zerk. and they are allowed on upper A-arms. Upper ball joints come with them too but often they are too close to the brackets to be of any use but at least they keep the grease in them better than an open hole. Happy greasing! Mark Fick
I'm pretty confident my last words will be 'well shit that didn't work' |

All my old ones had zerk fittings and the new rockers come with them also.

I have Zerk fittings on all my UCAs. However the LF does not seem to let grease flow in (high handle pressure and then grease backflows out the fitting). I replaced it thinking the fitting might be bad, but the same thing happens. I'll disassemble it over the winter and was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Yep. That sounds very familiar. I assume some of the grease gets in, but who knows! It sure doesn't come out the ends of the rocker bushing, where I was hoping it would come out. Kurt Breitinger

I've encountered this a couple of times, it is more to do with the clearances from the bottom of the zerk to the new style pin.
I have never encountered it with an old style pin unless the zerk was shite. |

I have seen "dumbbell" pins and solid pins. The solid pens leave very little space for grease overall. Perhaps you have one of those as I recall the one I had would essentially take no grease either. ____________
